Lathargy

I know that you, my loyal readers, have been disturbed by my lack of activity in nearly a week. Take heart however, I have been out of town visiting family in the country, where "that new-fangled internets thing" isn't to be utilized during daylight hours. And with the bar scene being what it is, nothing really got done outside of the farm work.

This post is coming to you from the bowels of MCA. I'm just kidding Medical Center of Arlington. Don't get all huffy puffy, geez. My wonderful and beautiful girlfriend and I are here, being supportive of her father as he goes through surgery to remove his gallbladder. He did amazing and is recovering well from what they tell us, thank you for asking. So I might just sit here and write since Lindsey has homework and probably sleep to get to, this being as stressful as it is. Her father will probably join her in the sleeping endeavor, because as I understand it surgery can be painful.

So what all has happened in the world of sports, in as far as the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex is concerned? The Mavericks lost badly, and well the Rangers are way too busy being the Rangers to notice that a typical baseball season lasts 162 games. So where does that leave us? Three sheets to the wind as best I can tell. Christ, I mean I understand that Dirk & Co. would've been hard pressed to make it to the Association Finals much less the Conference Finals, but is it so much to ask that they at least try in the first quarter. 4/18 shooting to yield 18 points, no free throws attempted (in the 1st quarter or the 1st half). Dismal, dismal, dismal people. They didn't deserve to lead 57-56 like they did in the 3rd quarter, plain and simple. So with that being said, leave the Little Mavericks to stew in their own filth for a while, to think things over. But before we lock the door and forget about them completely I want to address two things: Carlisle and Dirk.

First off, do any of you people know what the hell Carlisle does for a living??!?!?!?!?! Thanks to The Unticket for your courage and fine work that you do. Anyways, back to the former Coach of the Year, Carlisle. Some are calling his decisions during the playoffs, ludicrous and atrocious. Seriously, people, seriously? Was his method hard to follow at times? A Comanche Indian may not have been able to keep track of his decisions, but hey how many games have you coached in the NBA? How many Coach of the Year awards have you even seen in person much less won? If you answered more than zero for either then, what are you doing reading this blog? Get back to your seven figures a year job, and leave me alone please, unless you are feeling generous and need to make a tax-deductible donation. Then feel free to contact comment on this post and I'll get back at you later. Back again to Carlisle, stupid ADD crap. OK, folks here's the deal, in order to fully understand what happened we have to understand that as head coach, Carlisle knows what he's doing and his decisions should not be questioned until he decides to make his starting lineup J.J. Barea, Matt Carroll, Eric Dampier, Tim Thomas, and DeShawn Stevenson, then obviously he should be publicly assassinated.

Which brings us to The Big German. He still is one of the most underrated true superstars that this league has to offer. He simply doesn't have bad nights, just nights where he doesn't hit 30 points and 14 rebounds. He still has plenty of good years to offer this league before he becomes little more than just a serviceable player. So unlike many non-Mavs fans and even a few who consider themselves Mavs homers, are calling for the trade of Dirk based on his inability to carry this team on his back. Alright let me just say that Dirk can't carry this team because he has NO backup on this team. When Dirk draws the double and triple teams, the rest of this team cannot rise to his level of play. The defensive rotations after Dirk passes the ball is so superb that it ends up just being passed around until a bad shot is thrown up. So here's where I'm at. Trade Dirk from this team that doesn't seem to ever be able to get over the hump to Cleveland or Miami should their superstars stay put, or get Dirk to whichever team or teams acquire LeBron and/or Wade. Obviously the best case scenario would be to get D-Wade into the Big D, to solidify the our spot as potentially the best team in the league. So there.

So until the Rangers decide to keep up their most recent play, or later this week, either one.
