Oh, Grow Up!

Ah to be young and immature.  Except when you were supposed to grow out of that phase three or four years ago.  Well for all the 49er season ticket holders, for all the Utah Utes alumni, and for all quarterbacks who have yet to show their potential and shine, Alex Smith was your hero.  I found myself no longer caring about my fantasy team (my one fantasy team that lost had only the Saints' Colston left to play, one other had the 49ers' Gore and was in no danger of losing, and the other had no players this past Monday and also was in no danger of losing).  I wanted only for the 49ers to win (a long shot) and for Alex Smith to finally take control of his team (an even longer shot).  Normally one out of the two isn't the best outcome, however in this case its a joyful outcome and I'll tell you why.

Cowboys....

So.  Um.  Yeah.  Golly, the Cowboys are seemingly hellbent to go the exact opposite way of how I predicted they'd go, aren't they?  I just don't know what to make of these past two games.  That and my review of my playoff teams after the break.

Week 1: in Review

This is assuredly how more than at least one team felt after the smoke had cleared late yesterday evening.  Several even had Super Bowl contender hopes that aren't necessarily destroyed (remember its only week one!) but if certain matters aren't corrected then they eventually will be.  Dallas, Indy, Cincy, and Minnesota all had shocking losses that probably have them reevaluating several aspects of their team and collective game plan.  However not all is lost for all teams thus far some teams put their money where their mouths are and backed their claim to their post season claim.  New England, Green Bay, New Orleans, and Houston all dominated their respective games and look like contenders in their divisions.  But enough of this lets get to the games and break them down.

Back to the Cowboys

Alright! it's that time of year again guys!  Time to forget about all the worries and inconveniences in life, like your wife and her birthday/anniversary/existence.  Like showering and maintaining all other facets of personal hygiene.  Heck you can just forget what that weird place called "the outside world" is, because its football season once more!  Its time to get your fantasy team set up, time to pick your booms and busts, time to enjoy the sole reason left for being a man.  Its time to start worrying about your team in your town, which in my case is the Dallas Cowboys.  If you read this with any regularity you'll know that in my last post, which concerned the Rangers, I thought about getting into some Cowboys talk.  I decided that doing so wouldn't give either team the coverage they deserve.  So what of my questions, what about the Cowboys, is Wade really any good at coaching, is Romo really more concerned with his golf swing than his naked boot running abilities?  Hold your horses everybody, I'll sooth and reassure you shortly.

I Love the Rangers!...some days...

The dog days of summer are quickly coming to a close, although I'm sure that for Cliff Lee, that time cannot come quick enough.  Its the start of September and The Savior of the Rangers (Cliff Lee and the Rangers are in no way affiliated with the previous nickname) has been less than spectacular.  Yeah he put in some CGs and Cy Young stat lines but his last six starts he has played like a third in the rotation instead of the true ace.  What happend, what can be done, should we be worried for the team, for Cliff, for our playoff hopes, why have I not mentioned the Cowboys yet, are they not important anymore, is Wade any good at coaching, does Romo worry too much about his golf game, which company should I invest in, what about Hedi and Spencer?  The answers to all these questions and more after the break.
